Hi everyone, today I am going to chat about my three favourite foundations I am a foundation hoarder and love trying new ones. Enjoy…..
I am always on the lookout for a new foundation; my collection of foundation continues to grow. Over the last couple of years I have found a few that I just can’t be without. I am very fussy when it comes to foundations, I really am the girl who expects miracles to happen with foundations!
My skin is very oily with large pores across my nose and cheeks, redness and I am very rarely without a breakout. Even when I have my spots under control I am left with scarring, I never have clear complexion. This is why I am forever on the lookout for the new best thing to fake great skin!!!
One thing I like in foundation is coverage, I am confident enough in my own skin to go without make up but when I wear make-up I like to go the whole hog!
Ok so enough rambling and lasts get on with the post.
Mac Pro Long wear – This is probably my most reached for foundation so much so that I am currently scraping my bottle. This is the foundation I reach for when I am my pale old self I’m shade NW15. I love the coverage; a small amount really goes a long way with this one. I find the more I use the worse it looks and doesn’t last as long. This foundation has great staying power on my oily skin and doesn’t separate around my nose area like most others. This foundation definitely isn’t suited for someone with dry skin, it clings to any dry patches you may have. I use a Real Techniques buffing brush to apply this foundation.
Kat Von D – This is my treasure! I only use this foundation for very special occasions; I can’t get this in Ireland so I am afraid to finish it… This is from Sephora. This is such a beautiful foundation with FULL coverage it has so much coverage that I don’t even need to use a concealer on my spots. The lasting power is brilliant. It claims to last 24hrs but who would have their make-up on that long! I have worn it for 10 plus hours and it has never budged, the coverage doesn’t fade throughout the night. It photographs beautifully. I use a Real Techniques contour brush and a Real Techniques sponge to apply this foundation. I intend to get my hands on this product again and if I do I will be buying more than one. This would be one I would have in my make-up artist kit for sure.
Estel Lauder Double wear – This is the foundation I reach for when I am going to be out for the day or in hot weather. It is bullet proof on my oily skin even in hot weather (not that we need worry about that too much!). It has great coverage, it covers everything and leaves a nice blank canvas for the rest of your make-up. This foundation can be cakey; it isn’t the foundation to use for a ‘’no make-up’’ make-up look you will definitely know your wearing foundation with this one. The only way I can apply this foundation to avoid it looking to cakey is to use a damp sponge, I use the RT miracle complexion sponge.
I would love to hear your foundation recommendations.
